Long and Manhattan Beaches

Day 128 - Long Beach to Manhattan Beach - Sunny and Windy Low 60's:

Well there's not a whole lot to report today. We got up with a plan to check out the Queen Mary...yes, the boat. It is now a hotel and part of the ship is dedicated to tours. Upon arrival though we changed our minds. Neither of us were desperate to see it and the fee...well let's just say we would have spent the same to tour the boat in a half hour as we did the whole day at the zoo. Our next plan was to explore the downtown area. We headed that way but it really didn't appeal to either of us so we scratched that and made our way to Manhattan Beach. Ben reminisced as we drove through Huntington Beach of times when he, Nate, and Pat visited Mark and Kelly. Something about Mark trying to feed a police officer so that they could stay later on the beach than allowed....

We got to Manhattan Beach parked the car and started walking around. The town is full of VERY expensive boutiques. I'm talking $300 jeans. Of course I wanted quite a bit of what these boutiques had to offer however considering I have no income I kept my wallet in the purse. Bryleigh...it's you and me next year out here!! We grabbed lunch at a great little restaurant by the water and then kept exploring. We managed to make it out on the pier although I was concerned that we might get blown away. The wind is CRAZY right now. They have surf and wind advisories in effect until Thursday morning. Out on the pier they do have a VERY small aquarium with some really interesting animals. Ben enjoyed looking around. We headed back to land and off to the hotel.

We arrived at the hotel and both managed to get a good run in before dinner. Tomorrow I am off to observe a classroom while Ben will hang around doing who knows what. Then it's off to see Jamie in Los Angeles!
